FAQ

Below is a list of our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

My Safety Switch keeps tripping

Safety switches will trip when a faulty appliance is detected, blown lights may also cause a switch to trip. If the safety switch is on a lighting circuit it will likely just reset and a globe will require changing. If it is power related, it could be an early sign of a faulty appliance, to self-test, unplug all the appliances affected, rest the rcd and plug them in 1 by 1. Further tripping will need to be investigated by a licenced electrician.

Are circuit breakers better than fuses?

Yes. A circuit breaker is easily resettable should a fault occur and also makes maintenance easier should you need to isolate power to a particular area/appliance. If a fuse blows you need to remove the fuse holder from the base possibly exposing yourself to live terminals in the base.

Are LED downlights good?

Yes. The technological advancements with LED downlights have made them much more attainable and cost effective to the residential market. LED fittings use a very low 9-13 watts of power compared with a 35-50 watt halogen downlight. LED fittings operate at cool temperatures significantly reducing the risk of ceiling space fires halogen downlights can operate in excess of 300°C. We can change your existing downlights from halogen to LED from as low as $45 per fitting (supply and install).

Is there requirements when buying/selling a house?

Yes. When selling your house there needs to be a minimum of 2 RCD units installed in your meter box protecting all of the power and lighting as well as having hardwired smoke detectors. There are exceptions but they have strict conditions, call us if you require further information.
